B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission Process
Admission in B.Tech Lateral Entry programmes offered by engineering institutesis done on the basis of entrance exams. Different institutes considerdifferent entrance exams. 1] For admission into 2nd year Degree courses in Engineering and Technology
under Lateral Entry for Diploma holders:Passed or appearing in 2019, in three year diploma examination [two year incase of Lateral entry Diploma) in Engineering/Technology/ from State Councilof Technical Education and Training [SCTE&VT], Odisha or from an AICTEapproved Institute / from a recognized University as defined by UGC with atleast 45% marks (40% in case of applicants belonging to SC/ST category] inappropriate branch of Engineering / Technology.The native of Odisha, as well as the outside state applicants who haveprosecuted their study for the qualifying examination in an Institute inOdisha having approval from the competent authority, are eligible foradmission under Lateral Entry.Applicants who have prosecuted diploma in approved institutes of other statesare allowed to take admission in Private Engineering colleges as per theirOJEE rank. But, separate merit list shall be drawn for such outside stateapplicants and they will be allowed for admission in the remaining vacantseats, if any, after the state merit list is fully exhausted throughcentralized counseling conducted by the JEE committee. Results of finaldiploma examination must be available on the date of document verificationduring counseling.There is no reservation of seats in various categories in lateral entry todegree Engineering/Technology courses.Further, the students who have passed diploma in Engineering and technologyfrom an AICTE approved Institution and having a rank in lateral entry shallalso be eligible for admission to the first year class subject to vacancies inthe first year class, in case the vacancies in lateral entry are exhausted.However, the admission shall be based strictly based on OJEE rank only.
2] For admission into 2nd year Degree courses in Pharmacy under Lateral
Entry for Diploma holders:-There is no age limit to admission to this course.Passed or appearing in 2019in diploma examination in two years diploma course after XII standard inPharmacy with minimum 45% (40% in case of candidate belong to SC / STcategory) of marks in aggregate from Odisha State Board of Pharmacy (OSBP) orSCTE&VT or from an AICTE approved Institution / from a recognized Universityas defined by UGC for direct admission to the third semester degree courses.
4] For admission to 2nd year Degree courses in Engineering/Technology under
Lateral Entry for B. Sc./ +3 Sc. studentsPassed or appearing in 2019, Bachelor’s Degree examination of three yearsduration in Science from any University of Odisha or from a recognizedUniversity as defined by UGC, with at least 45% marks (40% in case ofapplicants belonging to ST/SC category) and must have passed XII standard withMathematics as a subject.Further even though the student in this stream are admitted to second yearcourse, they have to clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics / EngineeringDrawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year engineering program alongwith the second year subjects.
5] For admission into Master in Computer Application under Lateral Entry to
2nd yearThere is no age limit to admission to 2nd year MCA under Lateral Entry course.Passed or appearing in 2019, Bachelor’s Degree examination of minimum threeyears duration in BCA, B. Sc. (IT/ Computer Science/IST/ITM) from anyUniversity of Odisha or from a recognized University as defined by UGC andmust have passed in Mathematics as a course at 10+2 level or at GraduateLevel. Business Mathematics at +2 levels is not permitted.The applicants should have obtained at least 50% (45% in case of candidatebelonging to SC/ST category) at the qualifying Examination. An applicant whohave prosecuted Graduation in BCA, B. Sc.
